Parallax Orchestra was founded in 2015 by violinist and orchestral manager Will Harvey alongside cellist Maddie Cutter and composer and conductor Simon Dobson. The idea was to formalise a group to bring together the best and most versatile musicians in order to work with high quality artists from across the musical spectrum.

Principal conductor Simon Dobson and artistic director Will Harvey, having spent much of their youth playing in rock and punk bands quickly carved out a niche for the orchestra by collaborating with musicians at the heavier end of the spectrum, and brought the orchestra to the Royal Albert hall for large-scale projects with UK metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon (April 2016) and US Hard-Rock band Alter Bridge (October 2017).

Alongside rock music, the orchestra have appeared at Wembley Arena with Eminem & Clean Bandit for the 2017 MTV EMAs. In 2018 Parallax Orchestra branched out into the world of video game music with composer and guest conductor Andrew Skeet for Bethesda Studios and Warchild. In 2020 Parallax Orchestra collaborated with designer Lee Broom, both recording and producing the music, as well as providing on-screen musicians for the promotional film ‘Maestro’: the designer’s take on the orchestral chair. Another highlight has been recording our filmed show ‘Live from Abbey Road’ with UK metalcore band Architects.

In the studio we achieved a UK #1 album and Grammy nomination for ‘Amo’ by Bring Me The Horizon, and also achieved a #1 album with Architects’ ‘For Those That Wish To Exist’. Parallax have provided studio musicians for orchestral and chamber sessions for publishers including UPM, KPM, EMI publishing, Ninja Tune, Premiumbeat, Felt and BMG.

At the commercial end of the spectrum we have provided ensembles to record music for adverts for brands such as Very.co.uk, Standard Chartered, Liverpool Football Club, POTUS Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, Nascar, and numerous others.

Naturally the group has developed over time and is now a fully adaptable ensemble that is equally at home in the studio as onstage. Parallax Orchestra is run day-to-day by Will Harvey with regular project-based input from Maddie and Simon .
